VST Technologies will be consolidating with parent company SmartDisk Corp. and moving all corporate operations to Naples, Florida. The consolidation and move will be finalized on Nov. 15, 2001.
The move to Florida from the Boston area will not affect VST’s product line — VST will continue to develop the same Mac compatible hardware that they always have.
“Everything will stay the same,” Dave Montgomery, vice president of sales for VST told MacCentral. “Certain products are eventually going to be end of line because we make some products for the older line of PowerBooks that are also end of line. As products get end of line we will be adding new ones to take their place.”
Montgomery also confirmed today that VST would be exhibiting at this summers Macworld Expo in July.
SmartDisk acquired VST on Feb. 24, 2000 for 1.523 million shares of SmartDisk stock and $16.5 million in cash. At the time SmartDisk said the acquisition of VST would provide them with an expanded product line that addresses the rapidly growing digital video and digital music markets; afford the company a significant presence in the resurgent market for Apple products; and would contribute advanced FireWire and USB technologies to its product portfolio.
