has updated its Troi Dialog Plug-in — a tool for displaying real dialogs in FileMaker Pro — to version 2.1, adding compatibility for FileMaker 5.5 and Mac OS X.
With the plug-in, the text of the dialog and also the buttons can be created dynamically by using a calculation. According to Troi President Peter Baanen from within FileMaker you can: show dialogs with variable text and up to four buttons; show temporary flash screens; show a progress bar for lengthy operations; let a user input text through a dialog; show a list dialog; add a standard icon or your own icons; and set the text for the dialog title bar.
The Mac OS version of Troi Dialog Plug-in 2.1 is a “Super Fat” plug-in that will run on Mac OS 8, 9 and Mac OS X. The update also lets users set the title bar of the dialog to any text they want. An enhanced “Version” function can retrieve the version number of the plug-in. Users can also now show the Flash Dialog from a script to make checking the registration state for end-users easier. The Troi Dialog Plug-in user guide has been updated, with expanded description on progress bar dialogs.
A fully functional version of Troi Dialog Plug-in 2.1 is
available for downloading at the Troi Web site. Troi Dialog Plug-in 2.1 works with FileMaker Pro 4 and later. It costs US$35 per user, but upgrades from previous licenses are free.
