Apparently, the Boston-area Apple retail store is going to be located in the Peabody community, if an Apple job posting is any indication. The company is looking for a full time “US-MA-Peabody-Mac Genius.”
Though the area has a multitude of strip malls and the like on Route 1 (which runs parallel to I-95) north of Route 128, there’s no multi-level, mega-parking garage places like the “Galleria-type” places which Apple seems to favor as retail locations.
Based on info from MacCentral reader and Boston resident, Rob Bygrave, the most likely candidates for an Apple retail store would be the upscale Chestnut Hill Mall in Newton, MA (just west of Boston) — or perhaps a little further out in Wellesley or Natick. The latter two are areas “are essentially a hub to many colleges and universities in the area,” Bygrave said.
“Peabody seems to be a little out-of-place for a Mac store from my point of view, but given the situation with retail space cost in the area, even CH Mall might be too ‘rich’ for Apple’s blood,” he added.
