Drop Drawers X, the Mac OS X user-interface enhancement from Sig Software, has been updated to version 1.5.5. The update adds the ability to add a trashcan to clip drawers, Tool Tips to show obscured item names, and more.
The new version also adds support for high resolution icons in clip drawers, it can launch automatically after login and is faster and more memory-efficient than earlier versions, according to the folks at Sig.
Drop Drawers provides floating pullout, snap-shut drawers on the sides of your screen to store text, URLs, aliases, pictures, sounds, movies, and other items. You can also work with data in a drawer. For example, styled text can be edited, applications and folders can be dragged onto, URLs can be opened, pictures can be viewed and sounds and movies can be played. Drop Drawers currently has two drawer types, clip drawers and process drawers.
You can download Drop Drawers (a 390k file) at the Sig Software download site. A Classic version is also available for the traditional Mac operating system.
