Monsoon iM-700 flat-panel speakers now USB-compatible

Sonigistix reported today that its Monsoon iM-700 speakers are now USB-compatible. The company has developed an in-line cable attachment that enables Mac users to connect the speakers to an available USB port rather than using an analog headphone jack.
Sonigistix Vice President of sales and marketing Woody Jackson said that with Apple’s commitment to USB audio connectivity, his company felt it necessary to provide USB port connectivity.
The in-line cable adapter incorporates a USB port on one end an analog 1/8-inch headphone plug on the other. Sonigistix said the interface supports Mac OS X, as well.
The iM-700 speaker system utilizes “Planar Focus Technology.” The flat speakers direct sound at the listener — Sonigistix claims the technology minimizes reflections from the desktop, monitor, and other surfaces. “You hear crisp, powerful sound and the positionally accurate 3D effects possible from today’s games and multimedia applications,” said the company.
The product will be available after today through most Monsoon retailers, as well as direct from Monsoon sales. The system costs US$169. More info is available from
