If you’re not into technical, power user software, proceed slowly with this announcement. Gideon Softworks, which makes applications for Mac OS X, has released SSH Helper, a “Secure Shell Helper” that lets you manage your OpenSSH keys and account access data files on Mac OS X.
The utility has add/remove authorized keys. With it you can generate SSH1 RSA, SSH2 RSA and SSH2 DSA keys, and view/export your public keys, David Clark of Gideon Software told MacCentral.
SSH Helper requires Mac OS X 10.0.3 and OpenSSH 2.9 or higher. OpenSSH is a free version of the SSH protocol suite of network connectivity tools that increasing numbers of people on the Internet are using. OpenSSH is primarily developed by the OpenBSD Project, which produces a free, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system.
