NETGEAR, a company that provides networking solutions for homes and small businesses, is now offering the MR314 Cable/DSL Wireless Router, a 802.11b wireless router with a 4-port switch for wired and wireless LAN users to share a high-speed DSL/cable modem Internet connection.
The Mac compatible device provides Web-content filtering options that block access to adult and other sensitive online sites, while Network Address Translation (NAT) protects against hackers, according to NETGEAR spokesperson Analucia Gutierrez. Network administrators can receive browsing activity reports and instant alerts via e-mail, as well as establish restricted access policies based on time of day, URL or URL keywords, all within an hour, she added.
The MR314, which has a manufacturers suggested retail price of US$369, offers and Auto Up-Link function, which is designed to eliminate the need to worry about crossover cables. It also has an integrated access point that provides 128-bit WEP; content filtering by keyword; reporting and alert control features.
