March’s MacFests, the UK’s first Mac show since Expo 2000, was so successful that two more are planned for September, according to Macworld UK.
MacFest, a “UK Mac dedicated road show,” was held March 13-14 in London. A second MacFest was held on March 16 at Manchester’s Contact Theatre, Oxford Road.
MacFest is a road show for Mac enthusiasts featuring Mac-friendly companies and a series of seminars from popular vendors. Participating companies include Adobe, AppleOnline, AViStreaming, C2000, Canon, Copytrax, Computers Unlimited, Epson, Extensis, Farallon, FileMaker, Formac, Heidelberg, Hermstedt, IBM, INTY, La Cie, MacFormat, MacLine, Mac Recovery Club, MacAlly, Macromedia, Macworld, Media 100, Microtek, Minolta, QMS, NEC, Mitsubishi, Nova Development, OKI, Softline, Swann, Symantec, Teleadapt, and Wacom.
The next MacFests will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at Leeds University, and on Thursday, Sept. 6 at Edgbaston Cricket Club in Birmingham. Confirmed exhibitors include Adobe, Computer 2000, Hewlett-Packard, Minolta QMS, Softline, Symantec, and Umax.
“The first MacFests in London and Manchester were great for our vendors, but the events in Leeds and Birmingham promise to be the best yet,” Garrett Doyle, director MacLine, told Macworld UK. “There’s nothing to compare with vendors and the public getting together face-to-face, so visitors can try out the latest products for themselves.”
The organizers are offering a Titanium PowerBook G4 as a prize for one lucky show-goer. To enter, simply pre-register online for one of the shows. Attendance is free.
