FrontBase Inc. has announced FrontBase Adaptor for WebObjects 5. The Mac OS X plug-in enables developers using Apple’s powerful application server software to use FrontBase relational database servers in their applications.
WebObjects 5 was has been rewritten to take advantage of pure Java, and FrontBase Inc. said that it’s the first outside vendor to provide a solution for the new platform.
The new FrontBase adaptor plug-in supports all the features of WebObjects’s EOModeler, WebObjects’ model editing and creation tool. Users can utilize the FrontBase adaptor to perform table creation, schema synchronization, and reverse engineering of modules. Users can also use the FrontBase Adaptor to customize table maintenance statements for SQL 92 compliance.
FrontBase founder and CEO Geert Clemmensen said that the combination of FrontBase and WebObjects 5 provides developers with a way to deploy database applications on Mac OS X using a robust, scalable database.
“This combination provides developers with a world-class solution that can scale to meet the needs of any business application,” said Clemmensen.
FrontBase Adaptor for WebObjects 5 is available now in beta form. The full release is scheduled for later this month, and will be bundled with FrontBase upon its release. All FrontBase products are available for online download. Prices range from free to $49,999 depending on the scope of the license.
