Gideon Software has updated its Get Info and Dock-It utilities.
Get Info is a US$10 utility that lets you set file permissions, change the owner of a file, and change the group of a file. It reduces the need for the user to go to the command line to perform these simple tasks, according to David Clark of Gideon Softworks.
It’s been updated to version 0.3.5, which includes several bug fixes. You can now drag folders to Get Info; the utility now allows you to manipulate folders that you don’t have permission to access (they have a red dash on them in the finder); crash on quit has been fixed; and authentication credentials are now released when Get Info is quit
Gideon has also updated Dock-It to version 0.3. Dock-It is a Finder enhancement utility for Mac OS X that adds a drive/favorites bar dock and an optional shelf for file operations. Dock-It’s optional Shelf dock allows you to perform complex copies without opening more than one Finder window, according to Clark. An auto-updating Drive dock gives you easy access to all your hard drives and network volumes. Also, the Drive dock allows for the addition of your favorite directories. The Shelf and Drive dock location are configurable.
The latest version lets you place applications and files in the Favorites dock. And the Drive Dock update timer preference now works. Dock-It 0.3 costs $10. You can download it at the Gideon Web site.
