Apple hasn’t officially announced store openings in MA., but if its Web site is any indication, the company will open Apple Store locations in the Northshore Mall and CambridgeSide Galleria. The site shows job openings for a Mac Genius in Peabody, MA. and a Mac Genius and Store Manager in Cambridge, MA., at those mall locations. These job openings seem to confirm earlier speculation about Apple’s plans for Apple Stores in MA.
Northshore Mall is owned by Simon Property Group. The large suburban mall is located in Peabody, fifteen miles north of Boston at the junction of Routes 128 and 114. The mall sports more than 120 different specialty stores, along with anchor stores Filene’s, JCPenney, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and Sears.
With parking garages and close proximity to the Mass Bay Transportation Authority’s “Green Line” Lechmere subway station, CambridgeSide Galleria serves residents of Boston, Cambridge and surrounding communities. The mall is located in East Cambridge, MA., on the banks of the Charles River directly across from Boston itself. The mall features anchors like Best Buy, Sears and Filene’s, and includes more than 100 specialty stores, including what the mall claims is “the biggest Gap store in the Boston area.”
Spokespeople for Apple, Northshore Mall and CambridgeSide Galleria were not available for comment as MacCentral went to press with this article.
Apple has previously indicated plans to open 25 stores in the U.S. before Thanksgiving and an unannounced number of stores next year. (Thanks to MacCentral reader and Boston resident, Rob Bygrave, for this update on the Boston area stores.)
