It’s amazing how spoiled we get. Apple CEO Steve Jobs did a pretty good job of emphasizing Apple’s educational initiatives during his NECC keynote yesterday, but some folks were disappointed that no new products were announced. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to wait a whole two weeks to see what happens at Macworld New York.
Apple has a strong presence at this year’s educational trade show. More Macs are in evidence than were at last year’s NECC. And the crowd is definitely upbeat. Nobody works harder than teachers (well, except maybe MacCentral writers during Macworld Expos), so it’s my pleasure to have a chance to hang out with educators for a bit.
I haven’t had much opportunity to get out and about in the Windy City because I’ve been so busy with NECC coverage. However, I did accomplish one thing today: I had a GREAT pizza. It was a stuffed Tropic Delight pizza (cheese, Canadian bacon, and pineapple) from Giordano’s. It was fantastic. Tonight I hope to try some pizza from Pizzaria Due or Pizzaria Uno. My friend, Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus grew up in Chicago and says they make the best pizza in the world. He also says that you can only eat two slices max of their deep-dish pies. I bet I can eat three.
Now if only I had the time to track down a good cookie and/or ice cream store near my hotel, the InterContinental Chicago.
