Aladdin Systems Inc. today announced the release of iClean 4.0, the newest version of its Internet cleanup software utility. iClean 4.0 adds new features, and is also included in Spring Cleaning 4.0, which was released earlier this month.
iClean cleans out Web cache files, Internet histories and cookies. The software also provides a detailed summary of items that can be deleted and how much disk space their deletion will recover. Aladdin said that the software has been developed to provide Internet users with a way to ensure their tracks are removed, for privacy or security reasons.
iClean 4.0 adds a new Cookie Editor feature. The Cookie Editor helps users decide which Internet cookie files to keep and which to eliminate. The software provides specific information about installed cookies — their location, expiration date and security info about each cookie.
iClean 4.0 carries a suggested retail price of US$29.95 and is available directly from Aladdin. A trial version of iClean is also available for download. Users of iClean 3.5 can upgrade for $14.95 — an upgrade to the full version of Spring Cleaning 4.0 is also available for $19.95 instead.
iClean requires a PowerPC-based Mac, Mac OS 8.1 or later (including Mac OS X), at least 8MB of RAM, CarbonLib 1.0.4 or higher (for Mac OS 8.1 – 9.1). Navigation Services 1.0.1 or higher and Internet Config 2.0 are recommended for users running Mac OS 8.6 or older.
