TechTool Pro 3.0.4 adds OS X support, more

Micromat Inc. has updated its Macintosh diagnostic and repair utility, TechTool Pro, to version 3.0.4. The new version can be downloaded from a link on Micromat’s Web site now.

Micromat advertises that with TechTool Pro, you can recover lost data, protect against viruses, fix hard drive problems, optimize hard drives, backup data and check critical systems on your computer.

Version 3.0.4 adds the following features, according to Micromat:

Added support for OS X (must be booted from system 9).

Updated Virus database to find Simpson Virus/Worm.

Added over 100 new items to the Conflict database.

Added support for new CPUs to Spring 2001.

Enhanced drive repair routines.

Fixed bugs.

In order to update to 3.0.4 using this updater application, you must have version 3.0.1 – 3.0.3 installed on your machine. Earlier versions must be upgraded by purchasing the 3.0 version first. The upgrade is sold for US$49.95.

TechTool Pro requires a color capable Mac; System 7.5.5 or later; 640×480 display; CD-ROM drive; 5MB of available RAM; hard drive. Micromat sells the software direct for $97.98. It is also sold through various resellers.
