Mac game publisher Aspyr Media reported today that the Mac conversions of American McGee’s Alice and Tomb Raider: The Trilogy have gone into duplication.
American McGee’s Alice is a 3D, third-person action game that takes a twisted, mature variation on the Victorian children’s classics penned by Lewis Carroll. It’s an older Alice — one that’s armed, this time — who visits Wonderland only to find it a corrupted, sinister, darker vision than what she remembered from earlier days. Alice will confront the Queen of Hearts and her minions as she makes her way through the puzzles, mazes and labyrinths of Wonderland. The game uses the Quake 3 Arena engine technology as its underpinnings.

System requirements for American McGee’s Alice call for a PowerPC-based Mac running at 400MHz or faster; Mac OS 8.6 or later (Mac OS X compatible); 128MB RAM; 4x CD-ROM; Hardware-based 3D acceleration (ATI RAGE 128 or later).
Don’t be deceived by the name — Tomb Raider: The Trilogy is actually comprised of six adventures in the popular 3D action game series featuring Lara Croft. Unlike PC users, Mac buyers of the Trilogy will get the Gold versions of the first three titles, along with some never-before-released-on-CD content as well. All in all, the Trilogy features Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider Gold, Tomb Raider II, The Gold Mask (never before released on CD), Tomb Raider III and The Lost Artifact (never before released on the Mac at all).
Tomb Raider: The Trilogy calls for a PowerPC 603e/180MHz or faster (iMacs, G3s and G4s are fine); Mac OS 8.6 through Mac OS 9.1, 32MB RAM (64MB recommended); 4x CD-ROM; hard drive and color monitor; and QuickTime 4.0 or later.
Aspyr thanks Westlake Interactive programmers Mark Adams, Ken Cobb and Phil Sulak for their work on Tomb Raider: The Trilogy and Brad Oliver for his work on American McGee’s Alice.
Aspyr will advise when the games actually ship to resellers and customers who have pre-ordered the title.
