Dantz has announced the public beta release of its Retrospect client software for Macs running Mac OS X Server 10.0. Dantz notes that this release is wholly separate from an earlier announced public beta client for Mac OS X 10.0.
The client software will enable such machines to be backed up to a computer running Retrospect Desktop or Workgroup Back 4.3 for Macintosh — presuming, of course, there’s an available license to use. The final release version of this client will require a new, server-specific version of Retrospect Backup, according to Dantz. This public beta version will expire on September 15.
“Development work on the Retrospect Backup application for Mac OS X continues. Though we are unable to provide specifics at this time, we are working closely with Apple to bring Retrospect to Mac OS X and X Server,” noted company spokesman Eric Ullman.
The Retrospect client beta for Mac OS X Server 10.0 is now available for download from the Dantz Web site.
