Justin Christie and Paul Scandariato, two student developers on the Mac, have released iWake 1.0, a project originally developed for the recent MacHack 2001 developer conference.
iWake lets you launches files in a Wakeup Items folder whenever your Mac wakes up. The utility also supports “More Wakeup Items” via an alternative folder that can be triggered with modifier keys. Modifier keys can be set to open multiple folders at once. There’s a shift-key keyboard combo abort of wakeup items that can be set on a per-wakeup basis. iWake also offers an automated installer which loads and demonstrates iWake automatically.
iWake is now available (it’s a 661 KB file) from Scandariato’s site, where documentation can also be found. It’s a US$10 shareware item. The tool is for the traditional Mac OS; no word on a Mac OS X version.
