Essence Software has updated VideoPlug to version 1.2. VideoPlug is a plug-in for REALbasic that lets developers utilize QuickTime-compatible video capture hardware in their applications to capture audio and video sequences.
In other words, VideoPlug allows developers to gain access to the QuickTime sequence grabber from REALbasic. This lets them present and record video with their applications in real-time. Version 1.2 adds support for Mac OS X; and programmatic control over grabber parameters (compression, brightness, contrast, audio gain, etc.) has been added, according to James Milne of Essence. VideoPlug also fixes some problems regarding the release of compression hardware after an application using VideoPlug had quit, he added.
VideoPlug costs US$100. However, you can download a demo at the product Web site. System requirements are a Power Mac running Mac OS 8.0 or later (including Mac OS X), QuickTime 3.0 or later, REALbasic 2.1 or later (REALbasic 3.0 or later is required for Carbon support), and a QuickTime-compatible video source
