The User Group Advisory Board has announced its schedule for the User Group Lounge at the upcoming Macworld New York show.
“The User Group Lounge is the place for attendees to meet, take a break, and get up close and personal with notable Macintosh celebrities and newsmakers,” Chuck Joiner, editor-in-chief of The MUG Center, a resource for MUGs (Macintosh User Groups), said. “A full schedule of speakers, panel discussions and presentations assures anyone stopping in the lounge during Expo will be both entertained and informed.”
Scheduled guests and presentations include: The AppleWorks User Group; Ilene Hoffman of MacFixit; The Consortium of Canadian User Groups; A Panel Discussion on Virtual & Online User Groups; Apple’s User Group Advisory Board; Gary Reynolds, Apple’s User Group Program Manager; Dennis Sellers, Senior Editor of MacCentral; Shawn King of The Mac Show “Apple Makes The Grade: Students & Apple” with David Roemer; Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus; Dave Marra, Apple Senior Systems Engineer; Apple’s Regional Liaison Team; Shane Anderson of The Mac EvangeList; and Deb Shadovitz, columnist and author.
The Speaker Host for The User Group Lounge will be Trish Huffman, well known in the Macintosh community as a GCS and host of countless chats on World Without Borders. She was recently named as Macintosh User Group Producer for WWB.
The lounge will be staffed with volunteers from Macintosh User Groups who can answer questions about how to find a group near you, where to locate resources benefiting MUGs, and more. The User Group Lounge is provided courtesy of Macworld Expo/IDG, who donate the room to the User Group Advisory Board.
Complete information on the guests and schedule for the User Group Lounge, as well as information on all of the Macintosh User Group events at Macworld Conference & Expo, is available at The MUG Center.
MUGs are good places for making new friends, finding Mac-loving buddies, boning up your technical expertise, finding solutions to technical problems, and sometimes finding a good deal on used hardware. MWNY 2001 will run July 17-20 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. For more info, go to the show’s Web site.
