Gideon Softworks, a company that specializes in Mac OS X applications, has released two new products aimed at Mac OS X users.
Snard 0.4.5 is a pre-release version of its Dock-based launcher for Mac OS X. You can use it to launch an application as the Admin and perform a search locally or Internet wide using Sherlock. You can use Worksets to specify a list of files to open with one click of the mouse. Snard also offers one-click access to System Preferences and lets you organize items into Groups for easy access.
“Snard reduces dock clutter by replacing numerous application/document icons in the Dock with a single docklet,” David Clark of Gideon Softworks said. “You can place infrequently accessed items in the Snard. And you can use it as your launcher and the Dock as the application switcher.”
In version 0.4.5, warnings have been removed, as well as the preference menu. You can download it (a 409k file) from the product Web site.
Gideon Softworks has also released Get Info 0.3.7. Get Info is a utility that lets you change the owner, group and permissions, and type/creator for any file. In the latest version, the application size has been reduced (from 2.7 MB to 900 k), there’s been a code rewrite and Type/Creator changing has been added.
“You can modify ~/Library/Get Info/TypesAndCreators.plist to add more type/creator items,” Clark said. “There will be a UI to modify this in a future release.”
You can download Get info 0.3.7 (a 489 k file) at the product Web site.
