Bare Bones Software has released a new version of Mailsmith, its Internet e-mail client for the Macintosh. The new version can be downloaded free of charge for all registered users via an update package.
Mailsmith utilizes features including “distributed filters,” advanced search capabilities (include the use of logical operators and grep pattern matching), OSA scripting support, text editing capabilities culled from BBEdit, and other capabilities.
The new version of Mailsmith, 1.1.7, sports many new additions and fixes — too many to list here, but they’re documented on the Bare Bones Software Web site. Highlights include improved support for SMTP authentication and several other changes to improve Mailsmith’s use within the Classic environment of Mac OS X.
Mailsmith 1.1.7 is available for purchase for US$79. System requirements call for a PowerPC-equipped Mac; System 7.5.5 or later; 8MB RAM; and an e-mail account on a POP or SMTP server.
