Seek Systems, Inc. today announced that it’s making available Seagate 180 GB hard disk drives for its Mac-compatible FasFile RAID systems. That means that users can now equip Seek’s FasFile RAID 5 system with up to 1.4 terabytes of available disc space in a single seven inch (4U) rack-mount configuration — double the amount previously available in the same configuration, according to Seek.
Seek Systems, Inc. qualifies its FasFile RAID configurations for use both with “Classic” Mac OS and Mac OS X. The systems are configured for applications like database management, graphics storage, digital video, document imaging, audio, and CAD applications.
Seek Systems, Inc. said that what sets its FasFile apart from other RAID systems is its “Adaptive Cache” architecture, which provides performance boosts by loading frequently accessed data into protected cache storage. Seek said that Adaptive Cache is particularly handy for SQL databases.
