If you need Macintosh training, Mobile Mac Training will bring it to you if you wish.
Mobile Mac Training will teach Mac in 21 different applications. The moveable lab is comprised of six iBooks and one instructor laptop, a projector, screen, wireless networking and individually licensed software, according to head trainer and CEO Alison Cattelona.
“We don’t always train on our computers, but they’re available when companies don’t have a lab configured,” she told MacCentral.
Cattelona and company (about five employees) train from a real-world perspective in the New York-New Jersey area. They’ve offered computer instruction in a variety of industries since 1992. Cattelona herself has over 13 years of production, design and art direction experience.
Mobile Mac Training offers training in desktop publishing, office applications, database and Web authoring. There are course for Adobe products, Microsoft products, page layout, Web, database, accessories and operating systems. “Specialized” classes focus on areas such as trapping, illustration, layout, prepress, Web design, image conversion, electronic proofing, font management, scanning and cross platform issues. And there are various types of classes, including full application courses, refresher courses, upgrade courses, project consulting, one-on-one and classroom style training.
“The graphic programs like Illustrator, Photoshop and Quark are in highest demand, but I am finding Excel to be very much sought after,” Cattelona said. “It seems a lot of people are being thrown budgets. And if you don’t know Excel, it could almost look like algebra. And HTML is getting big — it seems more and more that people want to know the nuts and bolts behind the page authoring tools.
Mac OS X training is available, although the operating system isn’t on the iBooks yet. Mobile Mac Training will wait until most programs are Carbonized before doing so, Cattelona said.
“We are happy to train on anybody’s machine that already has Mac OS X installed,” she added. “If there was a great demand right now, we would install it to accommodate.”
