Version 1.1 of DVD Studio Pro, Apple’s high end DVD creation tool, is now available from Apple’s Web site.
DVD Studio Pro 1.1 adds support for certain third-party FireWire devices that contain Pioneer’s DVR-A03 DVD Recordable Drive. At this time, third-party drive enclosures containing the DVR-A03 DVD Recordable Drive are just beginning to enter the market. To see if your drive has been certified by Apple to be compatible with DVD Studio Pro 1.1, check the DVD Studio Pro Web site.
The update of DVD Studio Pro also offers improved detection and handling of Final Cut Pro unrendered sequences and beefs up optimization of the encoding process to more efficiently allocate the specified bit rate. A PAL encoding timing base error that resulted in PAL encodes being shorter than expected has been fixed. Also, the issue where some DV clips appeared darker after encoding (sometimes referred to as Gamma Clamping) has been resolved. Finally, the DDP Formatting file name has changed from DDVID.dat to DDPID.dat.
Version 1.1 requires DVD Studio Pro 1.0. And it also requires FireWire Authoring Support 1.1. To get the update, get your DSP 1.0 serial number (you will need it to download the update), and head on over to the update Web page.
