The Mac-only utility EZNote has been given a major overhaul, transforming from a control panel into a full-fledged application.
EZNote is designed to let you do things like quickly jot down a note and find it later or copy text selections while Web browsing without copying and pasting between applications or saving the text to a file. With the press of a key, you can summon EZNote to the front of your screen to see a listing of all your notes. You can edit, delete, search, replace, group in categories, print or move the notes from user-defined category to category.
Author John Holder added that another feature allows you to select text from any note and have EZNote automatically paste the text directly into any document in any running application. The app supports all the standard text editing goodies, including changing fonts, styles, sizes, etc.
EZNote comes with plug-ins that allows users to modify selected text in any application. For instance, you can strip line feeds from your e-mail, get rid of all e-mail reply characters and create your own plug-ins sets.
“As our users have requested, you can now have multiple windows open, each note can be greater than 32k, pictures can be mixed with text, and it fully supports drag & drop,” Holder said. “And there’s lots more new features.”
EZNote is US$20 shareware. You can download it from Holder’s Web site. Minimum system requirements are a Mac SE or better (EZNote has 68k and PowerPC native code) running System 7 through Mac OS 9 (no word on a Mac OS X native version).
