Last week MacCentral brought readers news about an Apple-instituted exchange program for some PowerBook G3 AC adapters. According to Apple, some adapters can overheat, posing a potential fire hazard. The company is offering PowerBook G3 owners affected by the problem the opportunity to exchange their old adapters for new, redesigned ones.
A form on Apple’s Web site enables users to verify if their PowerBooks and their AC adapters are eligible for the exchange. Users enter the serial number of their PowerBook G3 and the serial numbers of up to two AC adapters, as well. Filling out the form successfully results in a response that users will be notified by mail once their request has been processed.
Many users who filled out the form later reported that they hadn’t received an e-mail confirmation from Apple, but at last, those confirmations appear to be making their way.
“We have received your request and will be shipping orders in the order received as soon as possible,” reads the notice in part. “Shipping time may vary due to replacement adapter availability.”
