Imaging Technologies Corp. is debuting ColorBlind Academy, which is designed to provide advanced color management training for resellers of color imaging products, including printers, copiers, monitors and other imaging products.
ColorBlind Academy courses are provided at ITEC facilities in San Diego and at the locations of dealer-participants. Each two-day training session will include color theory integrated with the use of ITEC’s ColorBlind color management software. ColorBlind certification is provided for up to four participants per reseller or branch. Additionally, ITEC provides a block of 20 hours of technical support in order to assist with on-site customer installations.
“Color management has become a key component in the sales process for new imaging products, including color copiers and pre-press and proofing printers,” said Chris McKee, ITEC president and chief operating officer, in a statement. “The ColorBlind Academy offers resellers the tools to offer competitive advantage in selling industry-standard color solutions. This course is designed for sales and support personnel and will make them more effective in their positions.”
ColorBlind Professional is professional-level ICC profiling software for Mac and PC systems. It offers control over all aspects of output profiles including maximum ink limits, black generation, black start, UCR/GCR, 300-1400 patch profiles and linearization for updating the profile over time, McKee said. The Professional version is bundled with ColorBlind ProveIt! and ColorBlind Edit to provide a complete ICC solution from scanner to monitor to print, all with top-level color tools for fine-tuning color with ColorBlind Edit, he added.
The ColorBlind Matchbox system integrates ITEC’s ColorBlind Color Management software with a precision colorimeter color measuring instrument by Color Savvy Systems. With Matchbox, users can create ICC profiles for any color device, view images using profiles, edit profiles to adjust color reproduction, and calibrate Pantone or other spot colors for consistent and accurate rendering on any printer or monitor.
Matchbox includes tools needed to create, maintain, and utilize ICC profiles for color matching. It features printer linearization and profiling, ICC/ColorSync profiling for scanners, digital cameras, color monitors, and color printers along with comprehensive profile editing and soft proofing.
ColorBlind Matchbox is part of a growing family of software tools, utilities and applications that allow users to not only precisely profile every peripheral in the color workflow (scanners, monitors, digital cameras, and printers) using ICC color standards, but also to process images using these profiles to consistently and predictably achieve the desired colors. Matchbox is currently available for the Mac and Windows.
The most requested function of ICC based color management is to get a monitor to simulate what prints, McKee said. ColorBlind Prove it! calibrates and profiles both LCD and CRT color monitors to provide the connection needed to accurately view the color in the file, he added. ProveIt! Network adds the tools needed to match monitors on workstations through a TCP/IP local network. One central Mac administrator can simultaneously calibrate and profile all connected Mac and PC workstations to a common standard, McKee said.
