Alias/Wavefront today announced that beginning on Wednesday, they will be accepting orders for the Mac OS X version of Maya. Orders can also be placed online.
Maya is a leading 3D rendering and animation software package already available for other computer platforms. Alias/Wavefront first announced its intentions to bring Maya to the Mac in 2000, and Maya for Mac OS X was first unveiled to Mac users at this past January’s Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Alias/Wavefront also demonstrated Maya for Mac OS X at the Tokyo Macworld Expo in February.
Alias/Wavefront will launch a two-part order promotion at the show. Anyone ordering Maya for Mac OS X before December 31, 2001 will receive twelve months of maintenance, including upgrades and support. Anyone who places their order before the product ships this summer will also be entitled to receive a free productivity pack which consists of a voucher redeemable for a Wacom graphics tablet, a resource book, The Art of Maya, a three-button mouse, a Maya jacket and a training DVD.
Alias/Wavefront will be demonstrating Maya for Mac OS X at this week’s Macworld Conferences & Expo in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Center. The company is located in booth 1707, and will be featuring product demonstrations presented by representatives of companies who already use Maya for their work, including Sony Pictures Imageworks, Nick Erikson Studios, Kleiser-Walzcak, and Blue Sky Studios.
