Extensis today announced plans to release a free Portfolio 5 update to support access to PowerFile’s C200 CD/DVD jukebox system. The new update — coming in August — will enable PowerFile users to access CDs and DVDs direct from their jukebox. Extensis said that the PowerFile is the first CD/DVD jukebox for which Portfolio offers direct support.
Portfolio 5 is a digital image cataloging system. The software enables you to organize, retrieve and distribute digital files. Portfolio 5 features the ability to preview images, search for images, and publish images directly to the Web.
Portfolio project manager Joseph Schorr explained that Portfolio will allow users to automatically catalog each disc stored in the PowerFile. Users can click on a thumbnail image or do a keyword search to find files located on the discs.
Look for the Portfolio 5 update to be released in August on the Extensis Web site.
Portfolio 5 Desktop Edition is available from Extensis for US$99.95. The Network Edition costs $199.95. The update will be free to all registered users of any edition of Portfolio 5. The software supports Mac OS 8.1 through 9.x, and requires a PowerPC-equipped Mac with 32MB RAM.
