DiamondSoft Inc. today announced plans to ship
Font Reserve 2.6
for Mac OS X in the third quarter of this year. The company is demonstrating the software at this week’s Macworld Expo in New York, in booth 561.
Font Reserve 2.6 is a font management tool that supports all popular Mac font types. The software consolidates info about fonts installed on a user’s computer into a database. The software then checks fonts for corruption, checks for duplicate fonts, and matches screen and printer fonts. It incorporates a browser that enables users to find, preview and activate fonts as well.
DiamondSoft president and founder Brian Berson is confident that Mac OS X will become the most important publishing platform in years to come.
“We wanted to show our commitment to Mac OS X early to ensure that font management is well addressed in this environment,” said Berson.
Font Reserve users can create sets of fonts for projects and print samples of fonts in a type book formatted with one of 20 different templates. Production personnel can also assign owners to clients’ fonts and search for fonts based on various characteristics, like owner, version number and date added. A new 2.6 feature provides a link to
MyFonts.com, an online font retailer.
DiamondSoft will ship Font Reserve 2.6 with both the Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.1 and earlier versions on the same disc. It’s expected to ship in the third quarter; pricing will be announced at a later date.
