Peripheral maker Gefen Inc. has announced a price drop for its ex-tend-it DVI to ADC Conversion Box, in celebration of this week’s Macworld Conferences & Expo in New York. The box is normally priced at US$299, but is now available online for $199.
The DVI to ADC Conversion Box makes it possible to connect an Apple monitor equipped with the Apple Display Connector (ADC) to a Macintosh equipped with a DVI-ready video card. DVI connectors are available on older Power Macs and Macs equipped with some third-party video cards.
The DVI to ADC Conversion Box allows Mac users to hook up an Apple Cinema or Studio display to a Power Mac’s second video card, as well — if so equipped. The box also makes it possible to extend the distance between the display and the computer by up to 25 feet, making it possible to isolate the Mac from the display and keyboard. Gefen also makes a range of keyboard video mouse (KVM) extenders.
The box includes a 6-foot USB cable, 6-foot DVI cable and a power supply.
