has announced the forthcoming Mac OS X-compatible release of its network faxing software for the Mac, 4-Sight Fax.
The new version, 5.0, is compatible with Mac OS 8, 9 and Mac OS X. The Mac OS X version is based on a UNIX faxing engine that will support all major fax modems, and also supports the ability to create and use customized modem scripts for new modems as they’re introduced.
The new version of 4-Sight Fax supports a variety of new features, including:
Fax forwarding to e-mail
An e-mail client interface that permits offline access to faxes.
E-mail to fax gateway
Expanded address book functionality, including LDAP support.
The ability to search on inbound and outbound faxes by date, time, name, subject and company.
Client-side imaging, where the images can be stored locally instead of on the server — to keep font, logo and graphical information intact.
Soft Solutions plans to release a beta version of 4-Sight Fax 5.0 available on August 20, 2001. On September 15, they’ll release the client/server user versions. Pricing starts at US$595 for the 5-user version. Upgrade pricing is available.
