DJs and musicians alike took note of software musical instrument maker BitHeadz’s presence at this past week’s Macworld Expo. The company showed off its new version of Phrazer 1.0.2, a digital loop sequencer for the Mac, which was updated this past month.
Designed for multitrack loop arranging, Phrazer makes it possible to take audio loops of different tempo and pitch and combine them. The software features built in effects and also incorporates an audio waveform editor.
Phrazer 1.0.2 now features QuickTime movie support and has the ability to adjust the tempo and pitch of multiple audio loops in real-time. The updated version now sports improved tools like a built-in sample editor, hundreds of new loops, the ability to import Sonic Foundry’s ACID 1 and 2 file format, and much more.
Phrazer 1.0.2 ships with over 500MB of royalty-free loops designed both by BitHeadz and third party sound developers.
Phrazer 1.0.2 carries a suggested retail price of US$399 and requires a 200MHz or faster PowerPC (G3 or better recommended). It’s optimized for G4 systems and supports OMS, FreeMIDI, ASIO, Direct I/O, DirectConnect, MAS 2.0, ReWire and Sound Manager. You can download a demo from the Web site.
