Nemetschek North America (NA) previewed the Carbon version of VectorWorks for Mac OS X. VectorWorks is a CAD development program for the Mac.
VectorWorks is currently in beta, and Nemetschek NA indicated that VectorWorks is the first fruit in the company’s effort to support Mac OS X across its entire product line. The company’s “Industry Series” products, Architect, Spotlight, and Landmark will all be Carbonized as well. Nemetschek NA said that the Carbon applications would be free of charge to all registered users.
Nemetschek NA CTO Sean Flaherty said that the company has encountered challenges with Carbonizing VectorWorks, but he’s enthusiastic about Apple and programming tools maker Metrowerks’ efforts to support his company.
“With Apple and Metrowerks’ direct support, we’ve recently made tremendous progress. The new foundation OS X lays for us, as developers, promises an exciting future for Mac users.”
