eVision has released a public beta version of its eVe visual search software development kit (SDK). The new 2.1 public beta has been released for Mac OS X, and to help stir interest, eVision has launched a coding contest.
Using eVe, developers can create applications that enable users to search using images and objects that contain visual similarity, rather than keywords and text. The software is built in Java, and works on Mac OS X, Solaris, Linux, and Windows NT and 2000.
eVision is sponsoring a coding contest and they are inviting developers to create innovative visual search applications using the eVe SDK. The two best applications get US$1,000 cash prices, and second prize gets $250. More details are available on the contest home page.
To download a free 500 image limited version of the eVe SDK, you can visit the eVision Web site.
