Despite the ubiquity of Palm OS-powered PDAs, pocket PCs and other personal info devices, there are still diehard fans of Apple’s long-defunct Newton Messagepad. Supporting those users is DelCann Software, which recently announced a complete rewrite of its software Newtourage. The new version, 0.5, is available for download at the DelCann Software Web site.
Using Newtourage 0.5, users can synchronize their Messagepad’s Names application with the address book used by Microsoft’s Entourage application, the personal information manager/e-mail client software included with Office 2001.
The rewrite of Newtourage sports a new two-component architecture, faster processing, stable serial and serial to USB connections, links between Entourage Categories and Newton Folders, Online Help, and various other tweaks and changes.
After 30 days, you’ll need to purchase a US$25 license to continue using the software.
If you’re already a registered user of Newtourage, please note that the new version sports a different serial number scheme than earlier versions. DelCann Software advises that registered users should receive a new registration code in the next few days.
