has announced a new series of high-speed FireWire drives based on the Oxford 911 chipset, which bridges Ultra/ATA-100 to FireWire. The new drives are called the SlimLine Ultra II Series. The drives feature a new chassis design and provide what the company describes as the highest performance of FireWire hard drives available.
The new drives feature capacities from 40GB to 80GB with prices from US$199 to $359. RAID configured systems will also be available, at prices starting at $469.
The Ultra II joins FirewireDirect.com Inc.’s other FireWire storage lines, including the Spark II portable 2.5-inch products and the company’s FireWire RAID arrays.
