First there was TopCalculette, now there’s TopCalculette Pro, which has been rewritten as a Carbon application. This means the calculation software from the France-based RubenSoft runs on both Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.5 or later and sports an Aqua interface.
The update also adds US translation. All the units, currencies and other previously French strings are in English. There’s also a special “Money” rounding mode, 30 new currencies and countries flags, and more according to MacTech magazine.
TopCalculette Pro offers a customizable appearance with two sizes of window, as well as a choice of realistic looks and various colors. It has 12 customizable keys, plus taxes and percents keys. TopCalculette Pro has two functioning modes: Pocket Calculator or Accounting Calculator with sub-total, total and grand-total keys. Currencies can be updated over the Internet.
TopCalculette connects to a server that updates the foreign exchanges rates daily. You can choose the US dollar or the Euro as the currency base.
TopCalculette Pro is distributed as shareware. It’s US$19 for the pro version; updates to version 3.1 are $14 for currently registered users. The “non-pro” version is $12.
