Apple has quietly settled a lawsuit brought against former employee Juan Gutierrez — more commonly known on the Internet as “worker bee.” As part of the agreement with Apple, Gutierrez said he would turn over any confidential information he still had in his possession and refrain from sharing any more information he may have learned during his time with the company, according to a story on ZDNet.
Edward Davila, lawyer for the accused described his client as a smart, young Mac fan who got caught up in the excitement of knowing what Apple was developing.
Apple launched the case against Gutierrez just over a year ago on August 2, 2000. When the case was first launched, Apple didn’t have a clear picture how many people were involved — the legal brief specified Doe 1 and Does 2 through 25 inclusive.
The next day Apple subpoenaed Yahoo to gather information for their lawsuit. The order forced the Web site to turn over records on Gutierrez — a GeoCities member.
