Adobe Systems Inc. has updated its layout and design software InDesign 1.5.2 with new
layout features and a new
pencil tool, both available as separate downloads from the Adobe Web site.
New fixes in InDesign’s layout tools include:
Grabber hand — accessible via the same keyboard shortcut as used in Illustrator. When you press Command + Spacebar and then release the Command key, you’ll have access to the grabber hand without losing your text selection. Fitting text frames to text — now resizes rectangular text frames smaller, so the frames fit the content. Master pages — InDesign no longer treats filling master frames with content as an override. The updated pencil tool provides similar functionality to its counterpart in Illustrator 8.0 and 9.0, according to Adobe. Features include:
Reshape any path by selecting that path and then drawing on or near it. Connect two paths by selecting both of them and then drawing from an endpoint of one path to an endpoint of the other. Extend an existing path by selecting it and then dragging from an endpoint of that path. These updates are applicable to Adobe InDesign 1.5.2. If you have InDesign 1.5, you can update to 1.5.2 by downloading an updater from Adobe’s Web site at no charge. InDesign 1.5.2 runs on Mac OS 8.5.x, 8.6 and 9.x.
