FileMaker and Macromedia will demonstrate new ways to integrate FileMaker Pro 5 Unlimited with Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev 4 at this week’s FileMaker Developer Conference in Florida.
UltraDev 4 is the only product on the market that provides a single visual environment for authoring applications that can use Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP), Sun Microsystems JavaServer Pages (JSP) or ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML), according to Chris Trytten, FileMaker’s director of product management. A detailed tutorial, co-authored by FileMaker and Macromedia, is available online.
Other highlights of the conference, which is themed “The Wonderful World of FileMaker,” include over 50 sessions on FileMaker’s recently launched products, FileMaker Pro 5.5 and FileMaker Server 5.5, and upcoming products, FileMaker Pro 5.5 Unlimited and FileMaker Developer 5.5. And over 30 new FileMaker third-party products and solutions will be unveiled during the conference. They include the following:
Troi Automatisering, a FileMaker plug-in developer, is shipping two new plug ins for FileMaker Pro databases: Troi Plug-in Power CD-ROM volume 6 (US$19) for FileMaker Pro 5.5 on Mac and Windows, which contains 12 Troi Plug ins for FileMaker Pro; and Troi Graphic Plug-in 1.1 ($49) that adds graphics functions to FileMaker Pro 5.5.
A.E. Wood & Erickson is releasing SyncDeK 4.0, a synchronization engine for FileMaker Pro that includes Version Update Manager (VUM).
Chaparral Software & Consulting Services is launching Brushfire, a cross-reference and reporting tool that allows FileMaker Pro users to analyze scripts.
Ki Systems is delivering Ki Biz System, Summer 2001 edition ($500), a multi-user, fully integrated customizable business management system.
ClickWare is announcing the availability of source code for itsClickQuery ($3,500) product; a FileMaker Pro based point-and-click SQL reporting tool.
Osh Vay Associates is demoing CDM Pro, a clinical data management system specifically developed for the needs of school-based therapists. It’s due next month.
d-Werks is launching TrapEase, a tool to test, trap and display errors in FileMaker Pro databases.
Waves in Motion is introducing the new oAzium Smart Card Plug-in for FileMaker Pro, a complete tool kit required to build a FileMaker Pro Smart Card driven solution. The company is also showcasing beta versions of upcoming products: Visualizer 1.0 for instant database relationship entity diagrams, and Analyzer 3.0 a system for documenting and debugging FileMaker pro databases.
Ascending Technologies is unveiling Calendar Monster 1.2 ($49), an upgrade offering enhanced search and navigation capabilities, simpler interface and native multi-platform support for Mac OS X and Windows.
Information Technology Systems is shipping ServTrak 1.0 ($99), an entry-level Web based solution for Help Desk tracking.
Comm-Unity Networking Systems is launching three new products: POP3it 3.0 ($65), a FM plug-in that lets users receive e-mail directly into FileMaker without the aid of other applications; SMTPit 3.0 ($65) which lets users send e-mails directly from FileMaker; and FTPit 1.1 ($45) facilitating file transfers from FileMaker directly onto an FTP site.
Brian Dunning is announcing the release of FMPasap, a new mobile channel exclusively for FileMaker Pro mobile users (and free for FileMaker Pro community), available for Palm and Pocket PC handhelds.
CoreSolutions Development, in partnership with Clickware, makes known the availability of ODBC Plug in training in Toronto, Oct. 11-12. CoreSolutions also offers FileMaker Pro classes in Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver.
Applied Arts is previewing its upcoming Truckin’ Buddy version 3, an accounting and dispatching software for the transportation industry. The company is also announcing the availability of The Schedule Program (SchedPro), scheduling and billing software for FileMaker Pro 5 and 5.5, with support on Mac and Windows platforms.
