Sonigistix Corp. today announced the release of its new Monsoon MM-702 flat panel audio system. The company said the new speakers are an upgraded version of the popular MM-700 series. They’re louder, producing up to 101 dB, and offer greater soundstage flexibility and better bass performance than their predecessors, according to Sonigistix.
Like the MH-502 speakers that Sonigistix unveiled last week, the MM-702 speakers utilize PFT, or Planar Focus Technology. Sonigistix claims that PFT focuses sound toward the listener, to improve stereo imaging. Traditional transducers disperse sound in a wider field, reflecting off objects and thus creating a less focused stereo effect.
Sonigistix vice president Woody Jackson said that the company has also built a new highband subwoofer for the MM-702 system, which boosts the bass.
“What’s more, the addition of adjustable satellite stands means increased control for an enhanced soundstage,” said Jackson.
The speakers will be available directly from Sonigistix and authorized dealers. The MM-702 system carries a suggested retail price of US$149.
