today announced the release of QuickCRC 2.0, a major upgrade for its object-oriented software design tool.
QuickCRC enables software developers to identify object classes, relationships and information before they actually write code by generating CRC (Class, Responsibilities and Collaborations) cards. Excel Software said that CRC is a way to design small software projects cost-effectively.
The new version of QuickCRC adds various improvements, including:
— cards can now be printed individually, or selected in groups with back printing and 1, 2 or 3 cards per page.
Visual on-screen editing
— allows designers to drag card, attribute and responsibility names between cards, maintaining all reciprocal relationships.
— can be assigned to each card, effective for partitioning large projects or mapping cards to different Java packages or code folders.
QuickCRC saves projects as XML files, making it possible for QuickCRC design info to be accessed by other editors and parsers.
QuickCRC’s system requirements call for a Mac with System 7 or later. The software costs US$295.
