Storage peripheral maker CyClone has announced that its
DVDRevo DVD-RW drive has been recently tested with Apple’s DVD Studio Pro. The DVDRevo is an external, FireWire-based DVD-RW drive that uses a variation of the same mechanism that Apple calls its “SuperDrive,” found in mid-range and high-end Power Mac G4 systems.
DVD Studio Pro 1.1 is the latest version of Apple’s professional DVD mastering software. The update adds support for third-party external drives that use the Pioneer DVR-A03 DVD Recordable Drive, and the DVDRevo qualifies. CyClone reports that the DVDRevo “was put through extensive and repeated testing without problems, passing with flying colors.”
The DVDRevo itself sports specs consistent with other DVR-A03-based external FireWire drives. It supports 2x DVD-R burning, DVD-RW 1x write speed, CD-R burning at 8x, and CD-RW burning at 4x. The drive supports DVD-Video, DVD-ROM and DVD-R, CD-ROM, CD Audio, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-I, CD Bridge, CD Extended, CD Mixed Mode and Photo CD media. The DVDRevo ships with a version of Roxio’s Toast 5 Titanium CD and DVD mastering software.
