Mac peripheral maker Formac has just extended its CD-RW burner line. Its new high-end FireWire 24/10/40 drive is BURN-Proof and writes a complete 650MB disc in just three minutes, according to the Formac gang.
What’s more, the Formac CD-RW 24 comes in an award-winning designed enclosure that virtually eliminates the noise of the drive, they add.
BURN-Proof technology is designed to eliminate buffer underrun errors that occur in fast write modes. As for the drive’s quietness, Formac says it’s due to a hermetically sealed enclosure. The Formac CD-RW 24 is also compatible with Apple’s iTunes software.
The Formac CD-RW 24 has 24x write, 10x rewrite, and 40x read speeds. Supported media include CD-DA, CD-ROM Mode-1, CD-ROM XA Mode-2 (Form 1 and 2), Multisession Photo-CD, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-I, Video-CD, CD-Extra/ CD-Plus and CD-TEXT.
The drive ships with Roxio’s Toast 5 software and sells for US$389. It works with Mac OS 9.04 or higher and FireWire 2.5 or higher.
