Glenwarne Ltd. has released a new version of
FaxElite, its fax software for Mac OS. The new version, FaxElite 6, is available for demo download and purchase from Glenwarne’s Web site now.
FaxElite enables your Mac to send and receive faxes. FaxElite is also available in a network server version that enables you to assign one Mac on your local area network to send and receive faxes, if you prefer. All you need is the Mac, a telephone line and a supported modem configuration. The software works as a Chooser-based printer driver.
According to the developer, changes in FaxElite 6 include:
Smart Dialing — Simplifies the entry of fax numbers. New Phonebook Editor — extra flexibility to manage your phonebooks Enhanced FastFax & Cover Pages — choose the font, style and size of the message text, paste in pictures, and add your signature. Multi-Page Cover Pages — no restrictions on length of message. Enhanced FaxViewer — add text or post-it style notes to your received faxes, highlight and mark up the text and paste in your signature. Plus there are new archiving and zoom features. Enhanced Log File — now records both received and sent faxes. Enhanced Phonebook — drag and drop facilities to give you more control. New Printed Confirmation — print the first page of sent faxes with an over print of date and time sent etc. Enhanced Forwarding of Received Faxes (network version only) — forward received faxes to more than one person. Upgraded FaxViewer now opens Global Village and STF received faxes. Customizable Headers — design your own header style for your sent faxes. Easier to use — simplified and redesigned main fax dialog. Enhanced Flexibility — share a modem more easily with your email or browser program (single user only) Although the solo software presently works on Mac OS 7.1 – 9.1, Glenwarne said that there would be free updates later this year to support faxing under Mac OS X. The Network User version of the software now works under Mac OS X, in Classic mode and with Classic applications.
FaxElite Solo costs US$75 or $35 to upgrade from previous versions. Other pricing is available for network installations and updates.
