Handspring, Inc. today announced price drops on four different models of its Visor PDA. Customers purchasing Handspring Visors from select retailers and Handspring itself can now expect to save $20 – $100 depending on the model.
Handspring’s Visor PDAs use a special version of Palm OS. Visors have developed a strong Mac following because of Handspring’s inclusion of a USB-based data cradle in Visor packages, requiring no additional hardware to hook up to the Mac (unlike the Palm PDA offerings). The Visors also feature the “Springboard,” a hardware expansion module that clips onto the back of the unit. Springboards have been developed with MP3 playback capabilities, cellular phone service, GPS tracking and more.
The 2MB entry-level Visor is now US$20 cheaper at $129. The 8MB Visor Deluxe has seen a $30 price break, down to $169, and the 8MB Visor Platinum, which sports a better screen and faster processor than the Deluxe, now costs $50 less at $199. The Visor Edge, Handspring’s sleek executive version, is now $299, down $100.
Handspring is also offering other promotions on select accessories and modules, including deals on the VisorPhone, GameFace and more. Visit the Special Offers section of the Handspring Web site for more details.
