There are only a few weeks left in the CodeWarrior Pre-release Discount Program for renewing licenses and new licenses of CodeWarrior for Mac OS 7.0, Professional Edition, which is due on Sept. 10.
The pre-release discount provides renewing licensees with a US$50 reduction on their renewal price, and provides new licensees with a $100 reduction. Until midnight Sept. 9, a renewing license is $249; a new license is $499. On Sept. 10, a renewing license is $299; a new license is $599. Pre-releases pricing also applies to licenses of the combined package of CodeWarrior for Mac OS and Windows, version 7.0, Professional Edition.
What’s more, Metrowerks, the company behind CodeWarrior, has added CodeWarrior for Palm OS 7.0 to the Pre-release Discount Program. Licensees of CodeWarrior for Mac OS 7.0 may add a license of CodeWarrior for Palm OS development tools for $299, a discount of $70.
Renewing and new licensees may participate in the Pre-release Discount Program by ordering their licenses directly from Metrowerks. Authorized distributors and resellers aren’t included in the discount program. Prior to the Sept. 9 deadline, developers may order online. Also, CodeWarrior Pro 7 Pre-Release Discounts are available through DevDepot; you can e-mail your orders.
When CodeWarrior Pro 7 ships, the “IDE [Integrated Development Environment], compilers, debuggers — all will work even better than they do now,” Matt Henderson, Metrowerks’ technical lead for Mac tools, told MacCentral. And there will be new optimizers for the 7450 G4 processors to make code run faster on the chip, he said.
“The big focus is simply to get Mac OS X tools to work better,” Henderson said. “CodeWarrior for the Mac 6 was specifically made to work with the new operating system and targeted the Mac OS X Public Beta. Version 7.0 targets the finished version of Mac OS X. The tools have been improved across the board. Everything has been enhanced and improved for Aqua and Mac OS X technologies. Everything has been Carbonized. The tools offer the equivalent functionality of those for the traditional Mac operating system.”
CodeWarrior 7 will also work under the traditional Mac OS. Cost will be $599.
