Mac game publisher Aspyr Media has announced that it will soon publish the Star Trek: Voyager — Elite Force Expansion Pack. A patch to enable the game to run on Mac OS X will be included on the CD (the patch will be made available online as well).
Star Trek: Voyager — Elite Force is the 3D action game that puts you in the role of an ensign assigned to a security team on board the starship Voyager, scene of hundreds of dramas that played out over the run of the television show Star Trek: Voyager. Built on the Quake 3 Arena engine, the game features a multi-chapter single player storyline and a multiplayer “holomatch” mode as well. The title was ported to the Mac by Westlake Interactive and published by Aspyr this past year.
The Star Trek: Voyager — Elite Force Expansion pack features an “interactive tour” mode that lets you explore Voyager itself. 21 new multiplayer maps have also been included, and new characters have been added as well (including Captain Janeway as Borg). New single-player missions have also been added, featuring a menagerie of new alien creatures and a new “Borg Slayer” game. You’ll also get a chance to play one of Lt. Paris’ favorite holoadventures as you battle the minions of the evil Dr. Chaotica.
Aspyr said the expansion pack will ship Carbonized and also include and incorporate the original game’s 1.20 patch (which will also be available as a download). As with the original game, the expansion pack is being converted by Westlake Interactive — Aspyr VP Ted Staloch gives Westlake’s Brad Oliver high marks for his efforts on this and previous Aspyr projects.
The Star Trek: Voyager — Elite Force Expansion Pack will require a PowerPC-based Mac with a G3/300MHz or faster; Mac OS 8.6 or later (including X) with CarbonLib 1.2.5 or higher where necessary; 64MB RAM; RAGE 128 or better 3D accelerated PCI or AGP video card with 6MB VRAM or more; OpenGL 1.1.3 or higher; 560MB uncompressed HD space; 128MB Virtual Memory; 4x CD-ROM. Multiplayer requires an Internet connection with a 28.8 Kbps or faster modem.
Preorders start this Thursday. Aspyr will sell the expansion pack for $19.95. It requires the original Star Trek: Voyager — Elite Force game in order to work. If you’re looking for more details about the expansion pack specifically, you can visit the software’s original developer, Raven Software.
