Lighthouse, a method for searching the Web from your desktop, is now available for Mac OS X. It’s made by the folks at Electric Butterfly with the REALbasic development environment, you can type your keyword(s) once and then select the site you want to search from the pulldown menu and click the “Search” button.
The folks at Electric Butterfly say this means no more typing of “endless combinations” of “www…com” into your Web browser. If you use Lighthouse and don’t find what you’re looking for, you can choose another site from the pulldown menu and click “Search” again.
Besides Mac OS compatibility, version 2.2 also offers enhanced performance and over 50 search site plug-ins. It’s available as a free download for Mac OS X and the traditional Mac operating system. To download it or get more info, go to the product Web site.
